Numerous objects to build your rafts
Located in pretty Peak District countryside
We’ve got some fantastic watersports available here in Derbyshire and the Peak District, and many of them are just perfect for team building days and corporate events. And hand on heart, this is one of the very best!
Over at Carsington Water, which is a stunning and very large local reservoir, we offer the absolutely potty group activity of raft building. The centre is purpose built to cater for water sports at the highest possible standard, and it’s conveniently located in the Midlands, close by to Derby and Nottingham
On arrival your guests for the day will be split into teams, and each team is presented with all manner of objects by the waters edge. Some of the objects will be essential to make your raft stay afloat. Some of the objects are red herrings to get you thinking. Think big blue barrels, planks of wood, strong rope, etc and you’ll start to get the picture
Raft building has been a firm favourite with companies wanting a fun way to get their teams working alongside each other and pulling together for a good number of years. Although it’s surprising just how many people still haven’t tried it. Have your team got the know-how and teamwork spirit to build a fine water vessel and get the thing to float and transport you all across the water?
Will you float away to glory or sink to raptures of laughter?
Your personal group Instructors are on hand every step of the way to give guidance. But they won’t build it for you. That’s your call!
Once you manage to get your raft onto the water and you’ve all clambered onto the thing you’ll face a variety of challenges whilst racing against the other team. And you’ve got to get to the island in the middle of the reservoir. Which is pretty far away. Good luck with that – this is truly hilarious!
All members of your group need to be water confident, although they don’t actually need to be able to swim, as buoyancy aids, safety helmets and wetsuits are provided
The centre has several options for catering if you’re sticking around for some lunch. There is a café and a restaurant on site, as well as BBQ stations if you’re joining us in the warmer months
And if you would like to make it a full day out there are numerous other activities available on site too, including Kayaking & Canoeing, Windsurfing and Sailing. Go on, treat your staff. We’re sure they deserve it!
